Mr. Yont Tharo, a member of parliament from the opposition Sam Rainsy Party whose son was gunned down in a minor traffic accident, lashed out at police for being incompetence in the arrest of his son's killer(s), despite having admitted that they have identified the killers.
He said: "The case of the killing of my son is different from other cases because when the incident happened the police arrived at the scene and when the killing happened the police were still at the scene and some policemen were also injured."
Mr. Chan Saveth, investigator from the human right group Licadho, said the police seemed not to take any measures to arrest the killer(s) even though they have been identified. He said: "We saw that the police seemed unwilling to arrest the culprits and the court did not show any signs that it has issued an arrest warrant of the killer(s)."
The family of the dead man claimed that on 9th August, Yont Thavron, the 25 year-old dead man, and his three friends were driving a Lexus RX300 near Wat Botum Vadey pagoda when a motorcycle riding by a lone man hit the left rear of the deceased's vehicle. The men got out of the car to investigate the damage and a scuffle broke out. The lone motorcyclist took out his gun and sprayed 4-5 bullets, killing Yont Thavron on the spot and seriously wounding his other three friends.
Mr. Yont Tharo, the father of the dead man, said he had lodged a formal complaint with the Ministry of Interior requesting the authority to arrest the killer(s).
Mr. Touch Naroth, Phnom Penh Police Commissioner, cannot be reached for comments, but Mr. Mok Chito, Head of Criminal Police, said he had not received Mr. Yont Tharo's complaint yet.
According to Yont Tharo, police had admitted that some of the killers were those police who attended the scene of the accident.

This is a criminal case. It's the responsibility of the police to find and bring criminals to justice, they don't have to wait for the complaint from the victim's family.
If it happened to a son of an MP from the ruling CPP, the killers will be arrested in a very short time. This shows that the Cambodian police is not a national institution that can provide justice to all Khmers, but to provide justice for the ruling elites only.
I had a friend from Massachusetts was there that also witness the from the accident to the shot took place.
What got him kill was his attitude with a uneducated 10 years talking.
An attitude like this no need to investigate just go get for more so they learn how to talk nicely.
Event the parent admitted their son attitude.
kill more SOB that talk trash so they learn to talk as an adult. Imagine this little incident already got him kill so how many more innocence people that he had treat before?
SOB he go to hell I am feeling sorry for him or his family after heard my friend told me everything.
Touch Naroth & Mok Chito have to resign of their incompetence jobs.
hi 17 August 2009 11:37 AM, are you dreaming ?
Dear khmerization, THANKS for your help,
Now all success for my site
The guy was killed by the police men who supposed to protect people from crimes.
This is the way the police in Cambodia do their job. They don't protect people from crimes, but they themslevs comitted crimes. They should be locked up for the rest of their life.
To me..., I think this case is not really difficult to find out the criminal who committed, because he was identified during the accident happend, based on the Koh Santipheap news stated that the criminal was a boby-guard and presently he is woking for the minisry of interior...,
