Breakdown of Cambodia's election results

Phnom Penh, 12th August 2013 (The Cambodia Herald)- The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and the opposition Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) are the only two political parties that had won seats in parliament in last month's general election, according to the National Election Committee's (NEC) preliminary official election results.

The NEC announced around nine o'clock this morning, that the CPP had won a majority vote in the election. 

The preliminary count showed that the CPP received 3,235,969 votes while the opposition CNRP only gained 2,946,176 votes. 

The NEC had announced the number of votes each party received from the 24 provinces but it did not tally the number of seats the CPP or the CNRP had won in the 123-seat parliament.

 However, according to the preliminary calculations based on the number of votes announced by the NEC, Hun Sen's party won 68 seats while the CNRP won 55 seats.
