PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Cambodia and
Japan signed an aid grant agreement worth $36 million USD on Wednesday
for two projects in Cambodia.
The signing ceremony was made between Cambodia’s Foreign Minister, Hor Namhong and Yuji Kumamaru, Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The grant will be utilized to implement a clean water project in Kampong Cham and Battambang Provinces and a human resource development project in 2013.
"This is the second time in first six months of 2013 that Cambodia has twice signed an exchange of notes on the extension of Japanese aid grants for projects in Cambodia," Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, told The Cambodia Herald.
The aid signed before was for three projects, he said.
Cambodian-Japanese trade in 2012 were worth around $800 million USD while Japanese investments in Cambodia was at $259 million USD, he added.
