Today
Khmer Krom and Khmer Kandal people in Australia come from all three
states (New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia), they travelled
by cars and buses for hundreds kilometres to participate in
the demonstration in the Australian Capital city, Canberra. There were
at about 230 to 250 demonstrators.
They demanded
the Vietnamese authority stop human rights abuse and release the monks
immediately without any conditions and at the same they demanded for
free and fair elections in Cambodia. The demonstrators also shutting
"Chey Yul Kanak Pak Songkros Chet".

On 4 June, on the 64th anniversary of the loss of Kampuchea Krom territory to Vietnam, about 250 Cambodians held a demonstration in Canberra against the Vietnamese persecution of Khmer Krom people, especially against three Buddhist monks who were arrested and brutally tortured, in particular Ven. Ly Chanh Da. Two monks have remain missing after the arrests.
