The People's Liberation Army has successfully
sunk a US aircraft carrier, according to a satellite photo provided by
Google Earth, reports our sister paper Want Daily — though the strike
was a war game, the carrier a mock-up platformand the "sinking" occurred
on dry land in a remote part of western China.
Satellite images revealed two large craters on a 200-meter-long white
platform in the Gobi desert used to simulate the flight deck of an
aircraft carrier. The photo was first posted on SAORBATS, an internet
forum based in Argentina. Military analysts believed the craters would
have been created by China's DF-21D anti-ship missile, dubbed the
"carrier killer."
While claiming that the missile has the capability to hit aircraft
carriers 2,000 kilometers away, the nationalistic Chinese tabloid Global
Times stated that the weapon was only designed for self-defense; the
DF-21D will never pose a serious threat to US national security because
it is not even able to reach Hawaii, the newspaper said, though fully
aware of the US naval deployment in the Western Pacific.
Underlining this point, Global Times took a common line from China's
national defense doctrine before the country acquired an aircraft
carrier of its own — namely that carriers are an offensive weapon while
anti-ship missiles are defensive. "It can be used like a stick to hit
the dog intruding on our backyard, but it can never be used to attack
the house where the dog comes from," the paper's commentary said.

DF-21D can probably do massive damage to the 5 acres carrier if it hits the target. But i don't think those big boy will sink
Don`t know what the big deal is but the United States have patriot missiles all around China. So, yes it is just for self defense. But to attack United States, good luck. Last thing China want is the US bombarding them. Most of their population would love to see the demise of their communist government. China knows that a war with the US would only jeopardize their ruling party.
Take a look at all the country the US bombarded. Left them in shambles.
If one of this ballistic missle hit these carrier ship it will created a massive explosion. There are wearhouse of ammunition stored at the ship hull. Radiation leaks will kill most crews or render this ship useless. Although I doubt it because U. S carrier has many super advance AEGIS missle destroyers ships steaming ahead, advance LA class submarines underneath, super advance Hawkeye AWAC covering hundreds of airspace around carrier battle groups , spy satellites tracking these missle the minute it's launch. China might get lucky against one battle group but not all 5 battle groups. Remember U. S had spies every where. Remember B-2 stealth bombers based at Guam island. This bomber will poke out these missle eye.
Agree, but a war with PLA and U. S will result in thermal nuclear war. You and I will be no more on Earth . Don't want this to happen . If war broke out in Pacific ocean China and America will avoid direct confrontation. America will armed her allies to the teeth to make China give up. It called U. S proxies war. These two super powers are not going to die for these small countries around the Pacific.
The USA have known well the capacity & ability of paper-tiger, China . China also well
known as Technology thief , she has tried very hard to emulate the USA , doing
reversed technology stolen from the later . Last year, China magazine bragged about
China stealth fighter which has never gotten off the ground . China is still
another 10 more years behind the USA . In modern war , bigger number of troops don't surely have advantage .
China have the advantage in bigger number of troops with no war experience.
