PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Lu Lay Sreng, the former honorary
chairman of Funcinpec, says he's considering joining the opposition
National Rescue Party formed by the Sam Rainsy and Human Rights parties.
The former deputy prime minister and rural development minister appeared Wednesday at the Sam Rainsy Party headquarters at a ceremony marking the Paris Peace Agreements of 1991.
"I may leave Funcinpec to join the National Rescue Party. I think it's the future party for national salvation," he told reporters. "I used to be honorary party chairman and a permanent committee member but now I have no position at all."
Lu Lay Sreng claimed he asked the Sam Rainsy and Human Rights parties to merge after meeting 13 times with Sam Rainsy and four times with Kem Sokha, head of the Human Rights Party.
Sam Rainsy, who has been sentenced to ten years for forgery and uprooting posts along the border with Vietnam, is believed to be living in France.

If he is now good, let him help CNRP.
May be he can convince more of Funcinpec members to joint.
Mr. Lu Lay Sreng and Mr. Yang Sem have a lot of experiences, individually and collectively.
