Cambodia, Chinese ties to be 'strengthened and broadened'

PHNOM PENH, 18 October 2012 (Cambodia Herald) - Cambodia's long-standing friendship with China will be "strengthened and broadened", Foreign Minister Hor Namhong was quoted as saying Thursday.

Xinhua News Agency said Hor Namhong made the remarks after a one-hour meeting with Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo, who accompanied the late King Father's coffin to Phnom Penh on Thursday.

"Cambodia sincerely thanked China for taking care of King Father Norodom Sihanouk's (health) until his death on Monday in Beijing," he was quoted as telling reporters.

Dai reportedly said that the death was a loss for both  the Cambodian and Chinese people as "the King Father was Cambodia's top leader and a close friend of China."

Xinhua said Dai also paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hun Sen. "The premier expressed profound and heartfelt gratitude to all Chinese leaders for taking great care of the King Father's health until his death," the report said.

He is the most pitiful person in the world.
He was the person who created a beautiful society and also the person who destroyed his own country by his hand.

He did very well in most circumstances, but once a while he did a big mistake--Pol Pot regime. Everything was not gone well at that time. After he went to see the massacre of his own people, he visited Beijing and persuaded the US to come to a table for negotiation, but everything was late because he did not have power anymore (1975-1979). Plus, no one believe in his fluctuated tendency.

I would like all hatre of the king to be bright to understand the situation that leaded the King to choose communism side in the 1970s.

Before I was confused by some Khmer people who criticized him as a crime to his nation. But, after I thought carefully about his contributions and the tendencies in the previous regimes, I found out he has been really a hero of Cambodians and internationals.

It was really hard to a leader of Cambodia to choose to side China or the US. One was the trustful ally and one was the fluctuated ally who sided the enemies of Cambodia.
