Cambodian government accuses Peabody organization of being politically motivated

The Cambodian government is said to have gone on the offensive. It's speaking out against a lauded organization for an award given to a controversial documentary about the 2004 assassination of a Cambodian union leader.

In a recent article published in The Cambodia Daily, Council of Ministers spokesman Phay Siphan (pictured) is quoted as saying that the Peabody Awards are likely a "politically motivated" institution and that the documentary is "a campaign against the government ... it's more like propaganda."

Shortly after its premier at the 2010 Cannes Independent Film Festival, "Who Killed Chea Vichea?" was banned in Cambodia. The controversial documentary about the assassination of a Cambodian union leader was broadcast locally on WHYY last May.

It’s since been recognized by Amnesty International, screened at the National Press Club, and most recently given a Peabody, which is widely recognized as the world's top honor for electronic media.

Peter Crimmins reported on the award-winning documentary in an article posted on NewsWorks.org on Friday.

In his article, Peter Crimmins explains.

“Chea Vichea was an internationally recognized labor activist who organized hundreds of thousands of garment workers in Cambodian sweatshops,” writes Crimmins. “The two men arrested for his killing were widely seen as innocent scapegoats. After the documentary was made, they were released from prison but still officially regarded as guilty.”

This kind of situation in Cambodia in the worst and corrupted CPP regime, may Khmer people across the nation are very cautious, nervous and scary of being falsely accused by CPP officials.

Every Khmer, please stay together and keep an eye on the bad CPP officials who might use you Khmer folks as the scapegoats if one famous person or official is killed.

CPP officials (Vietnamese) are causing the nightmare to everyone in Cambodia because of the scapegoat.

It is very clear that Vietnamese leaders and CPP officials have been using Khmer Rouges as the scapegoats when it comes to the Killing Fields that perished more than 2 millions of Khmer people.

We know why because Vietnamese leaders and followers in Vietnam want to control and take Cambodia land by slowly exterminating Khmer people in order to protect their liars of fake Vietnamese history in the world or brainwash young Khmer people for many decades to come.

Yuon/Vietnamese CPP Officials and Vietnamese dog Hun Sen can not be trusted when it comes to the killing famous or popular opposition leaders or officials in Cambodia.

CPP regime is the Vietnamese secret plan in Cambodia. CPP regime will be soon collapsed so the clans, Hun Sen and their Vietnamese dogs will be gone.
