More pictures of mass fainting here.
Disturbing news out of Cambodia that hits close to home. At least 107 workers in a Cambodian factory that manufactures Nike apparel fainted on Wednesday from exposure to toxic fumes and chemicals and poor ventilation. This is just the latest in a string of horrible incidences relating to apparel manufacturing that have occurred there, including Cambodian female workers being beaten as they were protesting their poor working conditions.
These kinds of stories really reinforce my position on buying from local/independent brands whenever possible. Yes, buying local/indie is more expensive, but the savings you receive in the form of cheap mass produced goods are costing someone else (like a factory worker in a 3rd world country) something much more, their quality of life. Something to think about the next time you are buying shit you probably don't need in the first place.
