AHMEDABAD: Indians won't have to go all the way to Cambodia to see Angkor Wat, considered to be one of the biggest religious structures in the world, which was constructed in the 12th century. It is thronged by 2 million visitors every year. A replica of the entire temple is slated to be constructed in the Vaishali district of Bihar. The city will have a lion's share in executing the project as a city-based temple architect has been entrusted with the construction of the mega structure.
Piyush Sompura of Panna Craft, a city-based firm specializing in temple construction all over India, told TOI that ever since he had seen Angkor Wat, he had a dream to replicate it. The dream has been realized. "I was contacted by Bihar Mahavir Mandir Trust, the organization that was planning to make Virat Angkor Wat Ram Mandir," he said. "It will be a temple dedicated to Lord Ram, on the outskirts of Patna and I immediately joined the project."
Sompura said that the 900 feet long and 270 feet tall structure is expected to be finished in the next five years at the cost of Rs 150 crore, employing 900 masons. The temple, complete with sprawling campuses and gardens, will have 21 shikhars, he added. His son Dhruv will assist him in the task.
"The temple's main deity is Lord Ram and Sita along with Luv and Kush and sage Valmiki," said Sompura. "However, we are planning to construct temples of various incarnations of Vishnu, Shiva, Ganesha and Surya among others. Being true to the original form, the temple will have Dravidian and Nagar styles of architecture and it will be constructed with 2.5 crore cubic feet of Chunar stone of pink hue."

What's khmer govt think about Indian copy of your khmer Angkorwatt and build in their land and steal tourism from Khmer? I didn't see any protest over this matter from Khmer govt.Indian will contracts a copy of Angkor watt soon.what can Khmer govt do to stop this?..
1to know..
Why an absolute disgrace ! Can't they just leave us alone, so insulting.
Go ahead make my day. I doubt that India has the capability to copy Angkor Wat, stone by stone, sculpture by sculpture which composed of Khmer history. It would be idiot to put other nation’s history, which is hardly understood by majority Indians, onto the temple walls.
I would not believe a thing about this article. It’s funny. They try to copy Hollywood to Bollywood. Most of the Indian movies are not even as good as the Hollywood, let alone to see them sing before they make love, and sing before they die. Now, they try to copy Angkor Wat is a laughable matter. What they are going to call? Indikor Wap?
It does not insult me at all. It’s only makes me wonder what it is going to look like when it finished. I doubt very much that it will look like Angkor Wat. It might look like Crocodile Gandhi instead. Anyone who tries to copy art or culture from another nation is only to have their heads spinning around the cooking pod.
This is Angkor Wat we are talking about. It’s not the Mona Lisa painting, people! Even the Mona Lisa painting, it would take an artist extreme amount of time. Even thought, many parts of Cambodia culture derived from India, It doesn’t matter and it does not means like we are cooking the same food twice using same pod, end up with the same task.
Angkor Wat is mysterious to Indian because Indian never build huge temple of her own, to say or think that Indian influenced Khmer civilization for many centuries including building, arts, dances, and royal courts is in doubt and also in question, if we compare the arts, dances, architectures and royal court are completely difference. Some foreigners think that Khmer architecture faithfully copy from India, however they should think again, Hindu temple in India no way near to Khmer temple in similarity. For hundred of years until 1960s India did not know Angkor Wat the biggest Hindu temple in the world existed, now they start to realise that may be Indian who copy Khmer arts and brought Hindu from Khmer to India.
For Khmer who builded Angkor Wat and also builded similar temple across South East Asia included Thailand, Laos, Viet, Malaysia possibly Indonesia as well so we’re Khmer has our own architectures, arts, dances long before Brahman & Naga (Hun Tien and Leav Yi queen) story. May be Brahman brought Hindu from Naga queen to India.
Let them build without the help of modern technologies like Khmers acestors did back then,or stop this project and sue Indian for copy right violation according to khme's laws or international's laws.Yes,you can build but don't use crane or anythings from tapemeasuring to computer of any kinds, our ancestors didn't have all these technologies to help them build these complexes.
Indian,wants to steal k our tourism that all....They don't care about Hindu's Gods..what's a pathetic's thief...
Even they use the modern technology, they are not able to build the temple that look like Angkor Wat. I mark my word.
