The Z-9 series helicopters will be used for disaster management and “to fight terrorism.”
Cambodia is set to buy a small fleet of Chinese helicopters that will cost the country nearly $200 million, senior officials say.
The Z-9 series helicopters will be used for disaster management and “to fight terrorism,” Finance Minister Keat Chhon told reporters Tuesday. He did not say how many helicopters are planned.
The deal comes as part of 29 different agreements signed between Cambodia and China during the visit of Zhou Yongkang, a member of China’s communist standing committee.
Soeung Sam Nang, the commander of the Cambodian air force, confirmed the deal, but declined to elaborate. Cambodian pilots and crew will require training and technical assistance for the new aircraft, he said.

Apache helicopter better suits...Cambodia need about 200 Apache helicopters to fight terrorism...and greedy neighbors invasion!
What Cambodia also need are a few ships that allow Z-9 to land on. If Tea Banh asked, no doubt China will provide that.
I'm not worry much about ground troops, but our 'AirSpace' that concern me...alot! We have nothing to defend our airspace today...? Those coupe SA-3 are useless and outdated too...
correction=couple!
Cambodia buy whatever weapons she can effort and neccessary.
During 1970's war, Chinese loaned KR 4 million dollars compare to the US loaned Lon Nol regime almost 1 Billion dollars. Cambodia Gov. is still paying the loan till this day.
Can you see the different ??? and you know who won the war ! The KR won the war LOL !!!!
Chinese weapons are not advance yet...low tech!
You have to remember low tech with enough capability come with little maintenance cost is good rather than grounded the aircraft or scrap parts from other helicopter
