Buying Z-9 helicopters is for personal convenience or for defending the motherland, why Hun sen buy J10 or long range missiles, or something formidable from Russia like sukhoi su or modern SAM .
nice copter, we need to buy 100 of these,,
Buy something that can win the war this sort of toy it seem to be personal protection a lot of dictator going down because of lack of personal protection.
Yes, it is probably for transporting Hun Sen's family and his personal fortunes out of the country when his compound is surrounded like Gaddafi's compound. Hun Sen would buy war planes and other formidable weapons, like war planes from Russia, France, USA or Sweden, if he is serious about protecting the nation. These helicopters are no match for Thai F-16s made in America.
Z-9 is for personal protection and personal conveniences it not for war front as one might thing, question what is choppers for ? the answer is transportation, not for war in the modern day war helicopters won't dare to confront the fully arm military units, and they won't stand a chance of the modern SAM.
In the full scale of war fighters jets play vital roles long range missiles soften enemy target multi-rocket launcher breaking enemy defensive line, Helicopters is for fighting small scale insurgence or un-arms protester as we have seen in the recent time when the gov use helicopter to crash anti-gov protesters in the middle east and so on.
195 mil is enough for long range missile can do a lot of damage to Thailand and can act as the deterrence for Cambodia national security against any invasion from neighboring enemy, when country is poor as Cambodia the leader should spent the money wisely on the defend the country, but not on the defending his leadership.
helicopters can support ground troops, eventually fielding dedicated helicopter gunships. A helicopter could be equipped with guns, grenade launchers, rockets, or even guided missiles, and provide rapid and wide-ranging fire against an adversary on the ground.Attack helicopters were more heavily armed and were given targets deep behind enemy lines, such as command posts and tanks, attacking them with missiles. The new strategy was also to fight at night, using advanced navigation and imaging systems,While helicopters have revolutionized infantry warfare, they have had less of an impact on other areas of combat. This is primarily because they are still relatively slow, vulnerable, and cannot carry the large payloads that fixed-wing aircraft can carry.
A lot of way to modernize the military , fighter jets, long range missiles, multi-rocket launchers, communication systems and so on, buying new helicopter is not the priority of the modernize the military while some area are still lacking, the number of men underarms, training good medical care and education are more important than transportation for some VIP from A to B.
Is Z-9 can bomb Thai military target?
I think it is a good step to modernize air force. They could be use to transport, attack or ani sub. They are easy to use and no airfield need. Who know, they might already have some modern SAM or announce in later years for some modern fighter jet, longer range missle or frigate.
Its about time cambodian govt start to do something about our military equipped, this kind of choppers will help our troops alot, but we still need more stuffs...like very high tech-computerize weapons, buying these Z-9 to replace couple old junky that we currently have...Its good though!
Cambodia has very poor air defence(Zero)...today! If terrorist launch attack cambodia in the air...we are toast!! Cambodia decide to buy these Z-9 is better than nothing...
Let use our braincell and put some logic in our thinking. You cannot compare helicopter to fixwing aircraft, UFO or whatever the hell. Helicopter is a vertical take off and landing aircraft. It does not need landing strip. It can land on your mother kitchen rooftop and steal her "prahok" if necessary. Every machine has advantage and disadvantage. And they're all very capable of bringing the hurt to the battlefield. Target can be destroyed through firing rounds of rocket at the position using helicopter. So, can Z-9 bomb Thai military target? Yes. Helicopter can do a fly over at a maximum speed and drop bomb if necessary. But why need to when it can launch rockets at the target. Z-9 arms with machine gun, tow missile, and rockets. It can hit target at a much closer range than those regular fast flying aircraft. It can hide and cover behind hill and tall trees or quitely drop off troops behind enemy line for covert operation.
Fast flying jetfighter is another totally difference machine. Only a moron would try to make comparison of these two machines. As far as helicopter, you can say Cambodia have it better than Thailand military. Thailand has no attack helicopters. The Vietnam War era Bell UH-1(20 units in service) donated by American to Thai military are old and becoming pieces of shit. Not too long ago,3 crashed and kill 10 crewmembers. And Bell 412(10 in service) are still useful but becoming outdated. As far as aircraft, Thailand focus too much on fancy fast flying machines like the Gripen and F-16 and lack vertical take off aircrafts.
I know there are alot of hate mongers out there attempting to down-play Cambodia military. Whatever the case, it just means that they're becoming worrisome and jeolous of Cambodia becoming more protective of her nation. You can't please everyone. I applaud Cambodia for purchasing of the Z-9. It was a good call and a great start to modernize her military. I have the feeling that soon Cambodia will purchase jetfighters. One step at a time, slowly but surely. Just remember, Cambodia didn't start the fire.
Sgt Houn
Khmens will be sorry if they dare mess around with our Apache helicopters...Khmens are such a fool!
Nerbpparnaddornh,
Hey stupid Nerbpparnaddornh, Siem don't have Apache. Where did you get this bullshit information. You wish Thailand have Apache, but it doesn't, dumbfuck. Thailand don't have shit with helicopters.
I agree with you! Thailand don't have shit like that..? They can not afford to buy one really...?
I would love to see Tea Banh buying alot of these kind of choppers from China...This kind of helicopters can shoot ta hell out of Siam bastard from miles, miles away!
Actually Cambodia still poor and lack of the finance and expert, but it's Okay for now. Therefore, I believe that PM Hun Sen wants more than we expected. When I have seen him acted and talked, I can tell that he willing to fight and protect his people and country. He's fin.
We Khmers should not forget Kampuchea krom ancestry' land. Kampuchea krom's land is the best to make economic growth, especially rice field. We must think about it because it can help Cambodia a better country and Cambodian people live a better live. I hope that China government might help us out to get that land back from the Vietcong. What do you think about it?
