Cambodia can win a war against Thailand with the help of the international community

Anonymous said...

Wow, I am the author of the article (Thailand can takeover Cambodia in a blitz, but cannot conquer Cambodia) that Khmerization put on blog! I like that.

But let me clear the space a little. I do not like the Thai or the Viet governments or those who have tried to twist the history of our Khmer Empire.

Now, do I believe that Cambodian soldiers can win the battle against the Thais? Well, that is up to everyone`s assessment like here in America with the Iraq and Afghan wars.

Will the Thais use their fighter jets or Navy ships against Cambodia? I don`t think so. When they responded to our multiple rockets, they responded with something similar. They did not rush in with the fighter jets to fire on our positions.

Everyone of us can only speculate what really happen during the intense fight. Because why? Our government would not allow any reporters in the area which kept a lot of information tossed around. Do we really know how many of our soldiers died?

Thailand can hit us with so many weapons and destroy our soldiers. But do I believe we can win? YES. Why?, you may ask. Because we are relying on the international community to step in, which means Thailand will never get our Preah Vihear temple! The one thing that we are lacking is MONEY that the government will not provide fully. How are we going to get more weapons and bullets for our soldiers if the government cannot feed our soldiers right now.

I am just being rational here. I know many of you have so much pride in yourself to believe wholeheartedly that we would win. YES, we will win but only if the international community steps in to help. Maybe our big brother China or Hun Sen's Master (Viet) would step in to help put pressure on Thailand.(*sarcastic)

P.S,

Thailand would never launch a full scale war with us. It will be a political disaster for them as a nation.

I don’t believe Thailand has the capability to capture Cambodia in a blitz. Many Thais love to think so, and often exaggerate their firepower by telling how many jets (F-16s) they have in their possession. They even showed off their strength by conducting their military exercise in front of Cambodian troops at the Preah Vihear temple.

So, let's talk about their F-16s. Their F-16s are just too old, and very expensive to maintain. The F-16s do not equip with the special radar or any kind of guided missiles. If they are going to attack Cambodian positions, the F-16s would have to slow down and would have to fly real low toward the targets, and that would be very vulnerable. Their air forces do not have the capability to fly at least 300 sorties around the clock for several weeks in order to take Phnom Penh or any other cities in Cambodia. By looking at wars for the last ten years in the Eastern bloc such as Russia against Georgia, Thailand does not have the will or enough fire powers and the strength of economy to take Cambodia in a blitz.

I do not believe that Thailand care about internal political pressures and the international attention or condemnation. If they have the ability, they would open attack on Cambodia already in a full scale war without having to think twice about it.

How can you say that Cambodia can win against Thailand "only if the international community steps in to help". If the international steps in to help it means that Cambodia had already lost the war.

Also many commenters are so confident that Thailand would never use their hi-tech weapons, like F16s and so on, against Cambodia. How do you know? The reasons Thailand did not use fighter jets against Cambodia so far was because a full scale war did not take place yet. They were just small armed clashes or just sporadic fight. In the event of a full scale war, any country, not just Thailand, will use whatever arsenals they have against their enemies. Now, the reason full scale war did not take place was because Cambodia let Thailand kept the territories, the Preah Vihear surrounding and some areas near Ta Krabey and Ta Moan Thom temples, that it has occupied. If Cambodia attempted to retake them back by force then full scale war will take place and Thailand will unleash its hi-tech weapons like fighter jets, warships and big artillery, and Cambodia will lose more territory. Hun Sen knows that the Cambodian army is no match for the larger and hi-tech Thai military and that's why he had opted for assistance of the Asean, UN and the world court. This is the right decision because we can't fight a war against Thailand or we can't use force to repel Thai troops from Cambodian territory that they have occupied.

Right now, we don't even know who control Ta Krabey and Ta Moan Thom temples. Cambodian troops they said they are in control of these temples, but Thai troops also claimed that they are in control. Up until now, there is no evidence, like pictures or video, to prove that Cambodian troops are in control of these two temples, that's why I'm suspicious that Hun Sen might lie to the Cambodian people to cover his incompetence. I know our Cambodian soldiers are brave and are willing to die to defend our territory, but it is the lack of weapons, like fighter jets and long-range artillery, that puts them in a disadvantage edge against Thai troops.

3:09 PM Proud Cambodian(Proud Thai?), your bullshit of Thailand thousands of jetfighters, tanks, warships, etc are getting old because you say it so many times. According to you, Cambodia lost everything already. We just didn't know because Hun Sen propaganda has keep us all blinded from the truth. Hell..at the same time, Thailand propaganda might also say that they have control of very thing Thailand had fought for with Cambodia in those clashes. All those area around Preah Vihear, Prasat Ta Krabey and Ta Moan. Hell...Cambodia might already lost the whole nation to Thailand, we Cambodian just didn't know it yet. Shit..we might be already been invade by Smurfs, it just that we didn't know it yet. Or Hell.. whole world might blow up tomorrow, we earthling just didn't know it yet. Or hell...Thailand had its ass kicked by little Cambodia, it just that Thailand didn't know it yet. Or hell..Proud Cambodian is a traitor who assist the Thailand enemy by spreading false propaganda to cover Thailand's weaknesses. This not a propaganda, just my wildest psychological analysis on Proud Cambodian(Proud Thai?)

I am the author of the blog. I do know full well if the international community steps in to help we have already lost. But we still have our Preah Vihear. So in a small way we won.

I agree with you about Thais military capabilities. They have been trained for many years and provided with many weapons by the United States. I know many of us would like to believe that we can win the battle. But for how long? Someone here keeps referring how our Khmer soldiers were killing the Viet soldiers (during Viet occupation) out in the country dying everyday. LoL... I have to laugh at that one. It was when the U.N stepped in to demand the Viet military to back out.

I know everyone talks about experience and how battle hardened our left over Khmer Rouge are. Let me ask you how many are there? How old are they now? I am only saying this because I don't want to see anymore of our compatriot die for this worthless Hun Sen government that will not pay out to our soldier's family who have died in the battle field. As a matter fact, they took their names off the payroll.

Please stop this accusation of people being proud Thai
because you don't agree with them. We are here for a good educated debate. If you don't have anything to contribute to this debate I suggest you just stay. I maybe American born. But my look and my heart is always Khmer running through my veins. I have done lost of study and interviews of countless family members about their terrible past. That is how much i want to know about my country. And I would like to thank Khmerization for making this anonymous person famous for the day. And for the great work you put out.

4:39 PM, This is the Khmer Rouge mentality that "if you don't agree with me you must be my enemy and a traitor". You seem to want everyone to say how great Hun Sen's leadership and how great our army is. This is a very dangerous mentality. If Cambodia is to move forward healthily, diversity in views and opinions must be allowed to contribute to help resolving our national problems. Please stop the Khmer Rouge mentality of smearing and labeling those who have different views as being "the enemy" or "a traitor".

I think our individual soldiers are great fighters, but what I'd like to say that they have not been provided with enough weapons to fight. Let's face it. If we are going to counter Thailand militarily, we have to upgrade our military. But, Cambodia is poor and our military budget is only $250 million per year as compared to Thailand's military budget of $4 billion per year, it would be very hard to have an arms race with Thailand. So, the best way is to seek the Asean, the UN, the world court and the international help.

What i think now, our Khmer soldiers don't want to win over into Thailand's land. So what we want is defend what is ours. Naturally, biiger always want to fight the small ones because the first they calculate and sure they win over. We are the small ones the first thing to take is to protect what is ours from losses, lost or win is not the main cause but to defend.
