A North Korean company has planned to invest $17 million in various new projects in Cambodia. According to the Cambodian Development Council (CDC), the North Korean company is likely to invest in the construction industry.
CDC officials said the company had already applied for registration with the CDC and its registration was approved in January, 2011.
The North Korean leaders had a close relationship with the present Cambodian leaders, but this is the first major investment in Cambodia from the communist North Korea, after having invested in a restaurant chain in various tourist cities in Cambodia.

Some 45+ years have passed but I still remember that special day. After he finished his speech Samdech Euv left the podium and came down to shake hand with all of us the Yuvachun Reach Sangkum niyum Khmer. I was one among them,with so joyful and exciting mood to have a chance to touch and shake hand with our head of state. I was 13 years old. Samdech Euv had left long richest legacy for our nation both good and bad but I choose to retained the good one. I admired his fate that his biggest enemy Nixon who brought him down yet finally Sihanouk would become king again and Nixon was lost power in disgrace of Watergate scandal. May Your Majesty Samdech Euv and Samdech Meh prosper with longevity and good health to foster good friendship between our country and our traditional friends China and North Korea.

In my village a man got arrested of suspected connection with khmer rouge the man got a uncle was a monk .
His uncle travel to phnom penh to see Samdech Euv and he got release immediately upon his uncle met Samdech Euv his uncle got 500 riels from Samdech Euv for traveling cost.
He's the man love by the poor and ordinary people but not from high ranking officer.
He make a comment openly from time to time that high ranking officer only love money than love cambodia.

9:48 PM, You're absolutely right. High ranking officier lost benefit and business connection when Sihanouk kicked out US military aid. Sirimatak was once Khmer defense minister and he was the Khmer prince who had a high chance to become Khmer King had the France not chose Sihanouk out of the blue.Once again Sirimatak missed his chance when Sihanouk elevated his mother to be the reigning queen and he himself head of state after King Suramrit died. Sirimatak was the cause of Khmer problems because he wanted the throne. But Khmer president post was looked good to him too and that why he masterminded the 18 March coup d'etat. Those hard core ex Khmer republican individuals living abroad who hated Sihanouk so much had created KI forum to vilify Khmer monarchy are the cronies of Sirimatak themselve or their descendants .

" Preah Chao Krung Kampuchea" and replaced with
" Preah Borom Khsat Krung Kampuchea ".

The only mistake he travel oversea too long if he in the country nobody dare to make the coup de ta the poor and students will crash the coup maker if you ask anybody in those day no body have a bad word about him it differences from PM hun sen (Hun Sen is love by high ranking officers not much by the poor).

10:42 AM, If he rushed back home from France,Sihanouk would have risked his life to the Khmer serei troop who pretended to surrender to FARK from Thailand a few month earlier and the plan to assassinate him was put in place already. Sirimatak had neutralized Sihanouk police force by orchestrated the parliamentary convocation of power from police head force by making up the corruption charge against the poor guy.
Like most of us Sihanouk did not know who the heck was Pol Pot.He thought he was dealing with Khiev Samphan.And I have to agree with you that Sihanouk had made that mistake.
