True, but Pol Ream is not a general, he is only a captain. If you can read Khmer, here it is:http://www.everyday.com.kh/non_members/channels/news/khmer/2011/04/23l_22874_thai.htm

He is deputy commander of 42nd Battalion and the Thai snipers sneaked in and shot him dead at 6 a.m at Ta Krabey temple and that's what had triggered the fighting until today.

by gods name. i guess thats why military high command was so upset. that's why Gen. Chumm Sochet was crying. My father in-law knew most of the officers in the 3rd Division his mates, because he used to be part of those forces deployed there, he quit in 1998 i think.

but things like this happen. u kill the officers destabilize troop moral, one of core elements of sniper warfare, snipers are not to be underestimated, that's why for officers to have less fanfare is the most safest. easily identifiable.

If this triggered it, i hope Cambodia has collected much evidence as possible for the USELESS TOOTHLESS UN, and the FRAME-LESS, SPINELESS ASEAN why we join them the first place, look at bosnia bro an example, they waited so long and when the UN deployed they did nothin to prevent SREBINICA MASSACRE.

condolences to this man. a true soldier. and many others.

Its a lot more then that you understand a sniper is an elite soldier of patience, when a target is identified and confirmed an order to kill is issued.

Unless that order is to kill any khmer officer on site of during the clashes must have the case, I guess Capt. Pol Ream was a high prioity target.

The enemy dare to attack us from day to day because they can we don't have fire power like they have, we should buy more big gun from china and Russia ,if every time the clash happen we flatten the border they won't dare if we've modern anti-aircraft system they won't fly their toys around a lot of poor country like us around the world but they have modern weapon for their army our soldier fight with spirit and will our leader should do more our soldier are dying every day if we have the weapon to flatten the enemy this never happen .
we don't need fighter jet it too high maintenances but we need poerfull rocket launchers and powerful rocket propeller those DK 75 is very old older than our soldiers.

True, the Thais fired their rockets 20km deeper into our territory, but we didn't see any Cambodian rockets landed deep inside Thailand, may a few km inside only. Thailand has 155mm artillery that can reach 60km distance. Cambodia's BM-21 rockets can only reach 20km and they are very old and not effective and inaccurate. We need new artillery that can reach as far as 60km like Thailand has and we need lots of them. Jet fighters also.

BM-21s are not all that bad that Russian Army brought Georgia to its knees during that conflict. As long as we have artillery. and YES we need more MODERN equipment.

we been talking about modern equipment since this whole thing started. its dragging on and on about it. its up the Khmer government really, they start getting new equipment, but as i WILL ALWAYS SAY the Khmer military is very SECRETIVE ABOUT ITS WEAPONS.
