Cambodian officials have on Monday 4th April arrested 20 Vietnamese for illegally mining in Cambodia's Stung Treng province . The group have already been sent to court on Thursday 7th April.
Sources said that the 20 Vietnamese were arrested at an illegal gold mine in Talat commune of Sesan district in Stung Treng province. They have been sent to provincial court and the investigation is still ongoing.
Mr. Orn Sam Ath, Stung Treng police inspector, said the 20 illegal Vietnamese came from Snuol district in Kratie province. Mr. Pheng Chea, director of Stung Treng Provincial Mining Department, said the company had illegally operated a gold mine in the area for some time and on 29th January the company had ceased its operations temporarily after the authority went down to prohibit it from continuing its operations, but it restarted its operations a month later. He said it's then that the police, under the command of Loy Sophath, governor of Stung Treng, had decided to arrest them. Many mining equipments and machinery had been confiscated.
In July 2010, 6 illegal Vietnamese had been arrested for illegally mining in Ratanakiri province, but were released without charge after intervention by Vietnamese authority.

These Vietnamese have more rights than Khmer living in their land....gosh so frustrated to hear this.
It's so fuck up, they should been arrested and thrown in jail in the first place and their equipments destroyed. The Viet stole almost everything from Cambodia and then export it back to Cambodia and other part of the world. That's son of the bitch mother fucker Hun Sen should be hanged!
