The first Cambodian-made electric cars will be on the markets in 2012 after a local company and a local car designer had inked a $20 million agreement with a Hong Kong-based company to build Cambodia's first vehicle assembly factoy in Kandal province.

Heng Development Co. Ltd., a Cambodian development company and Mr. Nhean Phaloek, a self-taught Cambodian mechanical engineer, have signed a joint venture with the Hong Kong-based Chu Liang Group Ltd., this morning, 21st March. The $20 million joint venture will see the Angkor series cars produced at an assembly plant in Takhmao town and on sales on national and international markets in 2012. Theassembly plant, which will employ up to 300 local workers, will produce 500 to 1,000 2-seater and 4-seater cars in the first year for national and international markets. The plant plans to produce 6-seater vehicles and 12-seater vans as well as pick-up trucks in the future.

Acording to the agreement, some of the car parts are produced in Cambodia and some are to be imported from China, but the vehicles will be assembled in a plant in Cambodia's Kandal province.

Mr. Nhean Phaloek, the designer of the Angkor Series I, II and III, said his new Angkor series will be fitted with modern accessories and with the same standard as foreign-produced vehicles.

Wow. Nice to hear that. Even Thailand, the richest nation(self-proclaimed)in Southeast Asia can't produce their own vehicles. I wonder if they still call us "savage, barbaric jungle people." If so it accentuated their lack of knowledge.

Wish you all the best. I am very proud of you all that make this dream possible despite we have a stupid puppet-Hanoi-installed-government dragging our feet.

Hun Sen and his Hanoi boss used to banned us from even learning foreign language and practice religion. We must say thank you for all the freedom fighters who sacrified their lives .Now we could see the green buds of progress but dark clouds of communist dictator-ship are still float above us.

Believe in yourself that in the free world and free trade you could become big world player just like other big cars names such as Toyota;Honda etc.

Electric car is a futuristic mean of travelling you are in the right track for world market.

Please could you employ our Khmer workers from poor rural country?

Good luck

Guys, we should be proud of Nhean Phaloek's invention. Cambodia is a poor country, this a chance to earn some dollars from exports as well as keeping our money inside the country by buying and driving these cars instead of imported cars.

This is just only a beginning. Any bastard who doubt Cambodia's capability can go f@$k himself or his mother. Angkor will be a vehicle that will be much more superior and sophisticate than that piece of crap calls Tuk Tuk that is produce by that piece of crap nation calls itself Thailand, that's being rule by that piece of crap king and that piece of crab prime minister. Not just Angkor, there maybe a few more Cambodia's very own motor vehicle manufacturing companies that will be coming up in the near future. So don't listen to those dumbass who are only good at making smartass comments about Cambodia.
