Four Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) MPs from Kampong Cham province has sent an invitation to National Assembly chairman Heng Samrin (pictured) and MPs from all political parties to visit borders to inspect the contentious border posts in Memot district in Kampong Cham province alleged to have been planted inside Cambodian territory and Cambodian farmers' land.
The letter dated 18th November stated that the visit to the area will enable the parliamentarians to see first hand the location of border post No. 109 in Da commune alleged by 222 petitioners, who accused the Vietnamese authority of planting the border posts inside their lands.
The letter asked Mr. Heng Samrin and all MPs from various political parties to visit border post No. 109 at 7 a.m on 28th of November.
At the time of this article going to press, the National Assembly chairman and the government cannot be reached for comment. However, the government has always maintained that border demarcations have been carried properly without Cambodia losing any land to Vietnam as alleged by border critics and the opposition parties.
