Prince Norodom Ranariddh, the privy councillor and former president of the royalist Funcinpec party and National Assembly chairman, has on Friday 10th September allowed members of the Funcinpec-Nationalist Alliance to visit him at his private residence located in Borey Bassac Garden in Chamka Morn district for a private get together.

Mr. Noranariddh Anadayath, Prince Ranariddh's spokesman, said the Prince has agreed to allow members of the Funcinpec-Nationalist Alliance visit him after they wrote a letter to him asking for an audience. He said in the 2-hour private get together, the discussions did not touch on any political issues, but rather it was a casual friendly talks among former colleagues who had not seen each other for many, many years. He added that on the Funcinpec side, the delegation was led by Mr. Nuth Sokhom, Deputy President of the Alliance. On the Nationalist Party's side, the delegation was led by Mr. Chhim Siek Leng, President of the Alliance.

Mr. Pen Sangha, spokesman for the Nationalist Party, said this is the first time that Prince Ranariddh allowed members of the Alliance to have an audience with him. He said this is just a private visit among former political colleagues. He, however, said that the Prince had expressed his full support for the two royalist parties to form a political alliance.

According to Koh Santepheap, Prince Ranarridh's spokesman, Mr. Noranariddh Anandayath, said the Prince has no intention to return to politics. Last month, there are media rumours that the Prince had intended to re-enter politics after he released a statement expressing concerns about the creation of a political alliance between the two countries.
