Ukrainian charge d'affaires to Thailand said Ukraine will deliver 96 armoured personnel carriers (APCs) to Thailand next month at the price of $125 million, 2 years after it placed the orders, reports Deum Ampil.
The orders were placed in 2008 to purchase 96 BTR-3E1 armoured personnel carriers (pictured) from a Ukrainian company which also produced most of the APCs used by the US Army in Iraq. This company had also sold these APCs to the Middle East and some African countries.
The BTR-3E1 tanks will will be equipped with American-made MTU engines, instead of the German-made engines.
The BTR-3E1 Ukrainian tanks will be equipped with 14.5 milimetres and 7.62 milimetres machine guns as well as the 30 milimetres remote-controlled machine guns. The 30 milimetres remote-controlled machine guns can fire 330 rounds of ammunition per minute and can also fire AP-T (Armour Piercing - Tracer), HEF-I (High Explosive Fragmentation - Incendiary) and HE-T (High Explosve - Tracer) bullets.
