Prime Minister Hun Sen (pictured) has re-appeared in public for the first time this morning, 20 days after he disappeared from public view after he was reportedly infected with swine flu during a weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers on 25th June, reports Cambodian Express News.

Mr. Hun Sen re-appeared at 8:30am this morning to chair the Council of Ministers' meeting. Mr. Hun Sun seemed to be forced to appear in public after there are conflicting rumours about the uncertainty surrounding the state of his health or the genuineness of it. In his first public appearance, Mr. Hun Sen refused to make any public statement surrounding the state of his health, but jokingly said that no one can predict about the future of their own health, unless they are an octopus, a veiled reference to Paul the octopus, a German octopus who made many flawless predictions in the recent soccer World Cup.

Officially, Mr. Hun Sen was infected with swine flu, but there are reports that he is also suffering from an eye infection from an injury he sustained when he was in the Khmer Rouge movement 35 years ago. In his appearance this morning, Mr. Hun Sen confirmed that he is also suffering from an eye infection as well.

According to various reports, Mr. Hun Sen will preside over the Angkor Sentinel's multi-national force military exercise tomorrow, Saturday the 17th, in Kampong Speu province. On the 20th, he will leave for his eye treatment in Singapore, where he is reportedly to be on a state visit to the island nation also.
