Cambodian military Division 503 based in Chok Chey village in O'Bei Choan commune of O'Chrov district in Banteay Meanchey province has increased troop numbers in the area after a number of Thai ultra-nationalists have crossed the border and planted border posts inside Khmer territory, reports Deum Ampil.

Mr. So Vath, commander of Division 503, told Deum Ampil on the morning of 7th of July that Cambodian and Thai troops are cooperating to prevent those Thai ultra-nationalists from planting border posts in the "white zone", the so-called dispute zones.

He said the measure was taken after a group of 20 Thai ultra-nationalists have on 3rd July came to plant border posts along the border, but had encroached about 2 metres inside Khmer territory. He said about an hour later, Cambodian troops from Division 503 came to uproot all the 5 border posts planted by those Thai ultra-nationalists.

42 year-old Thoeun Saveth and his wife, Morn Mao, whose lands were encroached by those Thai ultra-nationalists, said that after Cambodian troops uprooted the border posts, three Thai jet fighters menacingly flew over the area. He said, yesterday the 6th of July, another Thai jet fighter also flew over the area, but know one knows its intention.

Mr. So Vath, commander of Division 503, said Thai soldiers denied that Thailand has encroached on Cambodian border. They said that the reason that those border posts were planted inside Cambodian territory happened as a result of misunderstanding, he added.

On June 13th, Thai soldiers closed border crossing at Boeng Trokuon temporarily after a dispute over the planting of border border posts 37-38 in the area. And on 19th June, Cambodian troops had stopped Thai bulldozers and machinery from bulldozing and digging in the area around border posts 34-36 near the Boeng Trokuon border area.
