Prime Minister Hun Sen (pictured) has hit back at his border critics who promised to reclaim Kampuchea Krom territory back from Vietnam, saying that they have made promises that can't be delivered, reports Radio Free Asia.

During a service to commemorate 61st anniversary of the loss of Kampuchea Krom territory to Vietnam on 4th June, there are some reports that some speakers have made promises that if they become prime minister of Cambodia, they will try to reclaim Kampuchea Krom from Vietnam. "Some people have made promises on the 4th of June that if they become prime minister they will reclaim back the territory of Kampuchea Krom. I say, please try! Anh (the derogative term for 'I') will not go with you. They dare to make such a big promise! What will happen if they cannot deliver their promises? Up to this hour, can anyone do it? Even his Majesty the King-Father (Sihanouk) who had deposited a map of Cambodia at the UN didn't even put Kampuchea Krom territory under the sovereignty of Cambodia", said Mr. Hun Sen.

During a speech at the commemoration service, Mr. Mam Sonando, director of Sambok Khmum Radio, said if he becomes prime minister, he will try to reclaim back the Kampuchea Krom territory. Mam Sonando told RFA that past and present Khmer leaders have never tried to reclaim back the territory because they were and are incompetent. "Past leaders have no capability, but I have the capability. My capability is my moral determination and many people also think like me to help in the reclaiming of the Kampuchea Krom territory. This is my strength. Do you understand? Because no one has ever tried to reclaim the territory because they were afraid of Vietnam. They only want powers, this is what they want only", he said.

Mr. Kem Sokha, President of Human Rights Party, said Mr. Hun Sen did not say anything about Kampuchea Krom because he is afraid of Vietnam. "Anything to do with Vietnam he (Hun Sen) dare not touch it. We are all Khmers so we must give encouragements to each other, whether we want or don't want to do it. I believe that Khmer Krom people are also Khmers, so we don't claim that we will or will not reclaim back those territories. It must depends on the future reality of the situation in our nation. But at present, it is necessary that we protect the rights of the Khmer Krom people", he said.

Mr. Thach Setha, president of the Khmer Kampuchea Kromm Association in Cambodia, said even if Prime Minister Hun Sen does not care about Kampuchea Krom territory, he should care about the Khmer Krom people. Ven. Yin Soeung, president of Khmer Krom Monk Association, echoed Mr. Thach Setha's comment, but he said he understands Mr. Hun Sen's predicament. "He has his own predicaments also. We don't need to talk about this because what can we do because we were born in such a society (regime). So we must put up with it and try to survive. I believe that he (Hun Sen) is also a Khmer", he said.

On 4th June 1949, the French colonial parliament voted to cede 67,700 sq. kilometres of Kampuchea Krom territory comprising 21 former Cambodian provinces to Vietnam.

Khmer Krom belongs to Khmer Kandal. Some day we will be united with our brothers and sisters. Khmer kandal will not rest until Khmer Krom are Free from ah VietCong. That's our ambition and our goal.

Ah Qwak Hun Sen and his associates in Cambodia ought to be charged with treason, a crime against Cambodia. Him and his followers are traitors of Cambodia. Ah Qwak Hun Sen is a Viet-Cong wearing Khmer face. Everyday he's still in power, he's slowly killing off Khmer and Cambodia little by little. His interests is to gain more money, power, and to please Hanoi for allowing him to rule Cambodia for the last two decades or so. His ideas only help Vietnam gaining footstep in Cambodia. He's Hanoi's dog. Hanoi uses him to bark at any Khmer who cares for Cambodia. Ah Qwak uses fear, intimidation, and violence to silence them. Hanoi uses him to protect Vietnam's interest in Cambodia affair.

Again, Ah qwak Hun Sen and his associates in Cambodia ought to be charge with treason, a crime against Cambodia.

Hun Sen might be physically blind in one eye, but mentally he's not; But some of you are mentally blinded. The last person who decided to take Khmer Krom by force was Pol Pot and look what happened to the country. If any of you decided to use force to get what you want, chances are you will have nowhere to live at all. "Be logical thinkers, and don't just acts on impulse", If you want to help Cambodia, help her to grow economically.

To comments 7:35 PM, I want to say : Samdec A jo Hun Sen.

To comments 7:54 PM; I was deprived of my father, my mother, my younger brother and a number of relatives due to extremists like you. Don't you think that there is enough deaths and bloodshed going on already? How many more Cambodians do you want to kill because of your reckless acts of vengeance before you say that enough is enough? Now is the time to rebuild and not a time to tear down. Don't you think that younger Cambodian generations deserve to have their peace in life or do you want more bloodshed for them?

7:35 PM, it is impossible to take kampuchea krom back by force, but it is not impossible by diplomacy and international laws. hun sen has to show his patriotism by supporting those who want to take the issue to the world stage, not chiding them like what has always done. he said before he is willing to provide free coffins to anyone who wanted to take back kampuchea krom. cambodia is not strong enough to take kampuchea krom by force, but cambodia has a good chance under international laws and diplomacy. in fact, when france ceded kampuchea krom to vietnam in 1949, there was a clause in the treaty that the case of kampuchea krom was not finalized, it can be reviewed. Now, if khmer krom federation of mr. thach ngoc thach and the cambodian government work hard on the world stage, the world will take notice and they can help cambodia review the 1949 treaty in the world court or un. hun sen is a traitor, that's why he always attacked anyone who want to reclaim kampuchea krom.

It is not right and not a good leader for Hun Sen to say like that but I know he has the right to say anything that against or oppose his master.

I understood the situation or the shoes Hun Sen in but if his regime or his government can't do anything to Vietnam due to their friendship the next generation regime or government will do it. One more thing he said was totally wrong that when Sihanouk was in charge or claim independent from French didn't include the map of Khmer Krom along. This is very absurd. Look at East Timore and Kosovo, how the hell this country got independent when they don't have a representative or leader to put their map to UN?

Hun Sen so stupid!

Regardless of what Hun Sen said, Khmer Kampuchea Krom will be claim by all Khmer's leaders in the future.

We may not capable of using military force to reclaim our lost territories from the Vietnamese for now, and we don't know how much capability or incapability we might anticipated in the future, we won't know what our future will be. In every wealthy and powerful nations (powerful in economically and militarily), no one born to be rich and wealthy without struggling, discipline, hard work, well except the thieves, they can get rich and wealthy impermanently. It started with the solid systems, we must have any gov't that honest to their people, zero influences or intimidation from any foreign gov't or people; restructure our education system, required every of our children to be educated to their adulthood and opportunities to excel their education and beyond, our judiciary system must be fair to everyone, abolishing corruptions, respect human rights, sometimes it is hard to do for the gov't, but it must be done, our gov't must have good vision on micro-economic and macro-economic for our people and country as a whole; repeal our current immigration laws, and et cetera.., the bottom line our economics must be reliable and strong, and subsequently the strengths of our military will reliable and strong. And who knows, what kind of capability we might have, and the decisions will render accordingly. But in the meantime, we have to cry and scream as loud as we possible can, calling international communities to intervene, calling for international judicial intervention, WE MUST ALWAYS DO SOMETHING TO POTENTIALLY HAVING BENEFITS OUR PEOPLE AND NATION, IT IS BETTER TO DO NOTHING.

After vietnam invaded cambodia in 1979, they bring their people..... their son and daughter are born during that time on cambodia soil. Now they are growing up, with their age in this year is between 25 to 32 years old. With this age, they can work in government house, member parliament in National assembly.

What do you think, after the old age member parliament of CPP died someday, Will the new generation of vietnamese born during year 1979 come to replace them ?

Remember, the majority of member parliament in the national assembly are from CPP.

If like that, Vietnam is totally control everything of Cambodia.

We should rise this question to khmer people.

My background is not from law area. My suggestion is requesting to all MPs in National assembly to look carefully for Constitutional law to prevent any new generation of vietnamese in cambodia to control state of Cambodia.
