Mu Sochua won People's Choice Award

Mrs. Mu Sochua (pictured), an MP from the opposition Sam Rainsy Party, has just won People's Choice Award for 2010 from Global Exchange, which is an international human rights organisation, for her works and efforts in improving human rights situations in Cambodia, reports everyday.com.

The U.S.-based People's Choice Award is won by online popular votes among many candidates from a wide range of fields. According to the report, Mrs. Mu Sochua received 878 votes, ahead of her nearest rival, Malalai Joya, Afghanistan's youngest member of parliament, who received on 661 votes. Winner of People's Choice Award will received $1000 in cash for their works.

Mrs. Mu Sochua said her daughter will receive the award and the cash prize on her behalf in a ceremony in San Francisco on 27th May.
