The Phnom Penh City Hall said it will find a suitable public place to earmark it as a "democracy park" for all groups and people to hold all types of public demonstrations, reports everyday.com.
In a city hall meeting on 4th May, Governor Kep Chutema (pictured), said this measure is taken in anticipation of the ratification of the Demonstration Laws by the National assembly in June.
Mr. Ly Saveth, Deputy Cabinet Officer of Phnomm Penh City Hall, said the "democracy park" will be a park bordering Sakyamuni Stupa, Naga Bridge and Wat Phnom because it is a large park equipped with toilets and good security.
Mr. Ly Saveth said the yet to be ratified Demonstration Laws allow only a gathering of 200 people. If any groups plan to hold a demonstration with more than 200 people, permission has to be sought from the authority.
