Cambodian Foreign Ministry has just rejected Thailand's claim that Wat Keo Sekha Kirisvarak is located within Thai territory after the Thai Foreign Ministry sent a diplomatic note objecting to a construction of the monk's residence within the pagoda compound, reports Kampuchea Thmey.

Thailand sent troops to occupy parts of Wat Keo Sekha Kirisvarak compound on 15th July 2008, a week after Unesco inscribed Preah Vihear temple as a world heritage site. Currently, 10 Thai troops remained stationed near the pagoda compound.

Mr. Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Cambodian Foreign Ministry, told Kampuchea Thmey on 5th May the Thai diplomatic note accused Cambodia of building the monk's residence on Thai soil in violation of Thai sovereignty. However, he said that Cambodia has sent a diplomatic note to Thailand stating clearly that Wat Keo Sekha Kirisvarak is located well within Cambodian territory. "The Kingdom of Cambodia wishes to reiterate that the Keo Sikha Kiri Svara Pagoda, which is located in the vicinity of the Temple of PREAH VIHEAR, is clearly situated within the territory of Cambodia according to the Dangrek Map drawn by the Franco-Siamese Commission in 1908 and recognised and used by the International Court of Justice as "Annex I" map for its judgment in 1962", reads the Cambodian diplomatic note.

Thailand's objection over the construction of the monk's residence at Wat Keo Sekha Kirisvarak came a few days after it sent a diplomatic note to Cambodia objecting to Cambodia building railings to Ta Krabey temple in Oddar Meanchey province.
