Mr. Var Kimhong, senior minister in charge of border affairs, has urged opposition leader Sam Rainsy to present his border maps and documents that allegedly showing border encroachments by Vietnam, to court so that the court can judge his case fairly, reports everyday.com.

Mr. Sam Rainsy (pictured) was sentenced in absentia to 2 years jail for uprooting six wooden border stakes along the Cambodian-Vietnamese in late 2009. Currently, the Cambodian government has taken another legal action against him for falsifying documents and spreading disinformation after he had released a series of documents showing Vietnamese encroachments on Cambodian borders.

Mr. Var Kimhong said Mr. Sam Rainsy should show the documents to the court if he got any evidences of the encroachments. "If His Excellency has new documents, he should bring those documents to show the court. Mr. Rainsy can defend himself by bringing those documents to court", he said.

On Friday 12th, the government had lodged another lawsuit against Mr. Rainsy that would see him sentenced to 18 years jail if convicted for document forgery and disinformation. Not deterred by the new lawsuit, Mr. Rainsy on Sunday, in a video link from France, declared that he will release more documents that will show more Vietnamese encroachments. "I will release various information, including documents from experts from France who are highly professional and expert in their fields because they have in their possession documents and maps that have been kept for more than 100 years and new documents that we collected through scientific means and through satellite photographs", he said.

Mr. Rainsy said these experts estimated that Vietnam had pushed in 300-500 metres deep inside Cambodian borders, especially borders at Chantrea district in Svay Rieng province where he had uprooted the six wooden border stakes in October 2009. "At the end of this month, the public, national as well as international, will see clearly who are the real patriots and who are the real traitors, who are the defenders of the traitors, who are the defenders of national interests and who are the defenders of the Vietnamese interests", he said to 300 supporters via a video link from France.

It is a kangaroo court so it is like walking into a trap if Rainsy returns to Cambodia. Var Kimhong should just investigate Rainsy's evidences and claims.
