Military situations at O'Chak Chreng's Border Pillar No.8 have now eased after fresh Thai troops sent to the area on 15th had been withdrawn after tense negotiations, reports Kampuchea Thmey.

On the morning of 15th, Thai bulldozers started bulldozing in the "disputed area" and the Cambodian troops tried to prevent them from bulldozing the area. In the afternoon, the Thai military sent 4 truckloads of 300 troops to the area, causing a very tense stand off.

Gen. Chea Dara, Commander-in-Chief of the Cambodian Armed Forces and commander of the Preah Vihear operations, said the Thai side agreed to withdraw its troops the next day after strong protest from the Cambodian side. "Now, those Thai troops deployed at O'Chak Chreng and Border Pillar No. 8 which led to a tense confrontation, had all been withdrawn. And all frontline Thai commanders had also been withdrawn to assist Bangkok because the situations in Bangkok is boiling", he said.

The Cambodian government tried to distance itself from the political turmoil in Bangkok to avoid accusation of interference in the Thai internal politics. On Monday, Prime Minister Hun Sen ordered all commanders not to make any troop manoeuvres along the border which could be misconstrued by the Thai side that Cambodia is trying to take advantage of the political turmoil inside Thailand.
