Cambodian military sources said the military situations at O'Chak Chreng, 5 kilometres west of Preah Vihear temple, have become tense again when Thai troops based in the area recommenced bulldozing the area to build a road cutting through disputed zone, reports Kampuchea Thmey.
On 15th, 4 truckloads of Thai troops were sent to the area after Cambodian troops prevented them from constructing a road in the disputed zone. The next day, those troops were withdrawn after tense negotiation.
Cambodian commander of Division 8 told Kampuchea Thmey that early on the morning of 18th March, the Thai military had again sent more troops than on 15th, including modern weapons like DK-82 and DK-85 rocket launchers and big artillery pieces, to disputed spot. A Cambodian patrol unit was sent to the area, Thai soldiers panicked and a tense stand off ensued that nearly led into an armed clash.
At 4 pm in the afternoon, Gen. Chea Dara, Commander of the Preah Vihear operations, said the Thai side had agreed to withdraw all their rocket launchers and artillery pieces after tense negotiation and after he had threatened to launch an attack if they did not withdraw from the area. "We cannot allow the road to be built in the forbidden area, we resolutely forbid the construction of any (Thai) road in the forbidden spot. And we wish to declare again that, the Cambodian armed forces under the command of Prime Minister Hun Sen and Gen. Kun Kim based in this area, will use our self-defence to never allow the loss of even one milimetre of our territories. So, I wish to send this message to the Thai army, especially Thai Prime Minister Abhisit, to please learn some lessons from our Prime Minister Hun Sen so he won't harbour any ambition to invade anyone's territories", warned Gen. Chea Dara.
A Cambodian commander of Battalion 43, told Radio Free Asia that about 100 Thai troops had been deployed along the Cambodian patrol track that Cambodian troops used for patrol everyday. They closed the track and prevented Cambodian troops from patrolling in the area. "They closed the track that we have used for patrol in the last few days. There are about 100 to more than 100 and they stood on our patrol track. They are building a road and we stopped them from building awaiting for the higher authority to resolve the issue because the areas are mainly located in our territories", he said.

I hate war. War should be the last resort, I believe we need to DEMAND an international resolution. TAKE THIS CASE TO COURT! Not just that but Phu Quoc AKA Koh Tral belongs to Kampuchea too. We need to start demanding our lands back and jump start our economy!
Cambodian troops based in this area must be firm and strong. they must tell Thai soldiers that any encroachments will result in armed clash. If Thai army reinforces more troops, Cambodia must do the same. Cambodian territories must not be allowed to be encroached. They Thais have stolen Cambodian territories for centuries already, it is time that Cambodia stop them from encroaching any further.
