Thai troops have briefly re-occupied Ta Moan Thom temple on the morning of Saturday the 6th and evicted Cambodian soldiers based in the temple, reports Radio Free Asia.

Cambodian soldiers based at Ta Moan Thom temple which is situated in Ampil commune of Banteay Ampil district in Oddar Meanchey province said that at 8:30 am, a group of Thai soldiers came into the temple and evicted the Cambodian soldiers based in the temple.

The Cambodian soldiers said, keen to avoid clashes, they decided to leave the temple and the Thai troops occupied it until 2:30 pm before they left. A Cambodian military source said, however, that after that particular group of Thai soldiers left Ta Moan Thom temple, another group of ten Thai soldiers sneaked into Cambodian territory at Por Pre Pass. The same source said that Cambodian troops had forced those Thai troops to retreat back into Thai territory. The source added that as at 4 pm on the 6th of February, the situation in the areas remained calm but the Cambodian soldiers are ordered to be on high alert for any eventuality.

Por Pre Pass is situated about one kilometre from Ta Moan Thom temple only. The Thai incursions happened two days before Prime Minister Hun Sen is due to arrive at the temple on Monday.

Thai soldiers had occupied Ta Moan Thom temple on 8th August 2008, three weeks after its troops invaded the Preah Vihear areas on 15th July, but withdrew a few months later after subsequent negotiations.

The first time was the same. When Thai soldiers pushed in, the Cambodian soldiers retreated and Thai soldiers occupied the temple since then.

I don't blame those Khmer soldiers because only a few of them were deployed at the temple, so when hundreds of Thai troops came in they have to leave or they will be killed.

This is all Hun Sen's faults because he didn't have enough troops to defend Cambodian borders because all the soldiers and weapons are protecting him at his Tuol Krosaing home in Takhmao.

Don't those three or four stars general knows how to protect Cambodian border. Every Cambodian soldiers should station and protect those special places. Damn, what kind of military school do they go for those Cambodian officers? The enemies can go in and out as they please. No wonder the Siem looks down on us.

If Khmer leaders cares so much about our borders,,,we shouldn't have these problems at all. Its not a matter of having enough troops. Its matter of how we built conventional troops to protect our borders in the far eastern and western front. Look at the Isreali...they were able to fight against three different countries in 1967 war with its own small population and won a big chunk of land for their people.
