The Interior Ministry has rejected request by 26 MPs from the Sam Rainsy Party to visit two farmers jailed on charges of sabotage after they uproot border markers planted in the middle of their rice fields by the Vietnamese authority, reports Deum Ampil.
A few days ago, 26 MPs from the SRP wrote a letter to the Interior Ministry seeking permission to visit the jailed farmers.
Gen. Khieu Sopheak, spokesman for the Interior Ministry, said, the prison system is operating similar to the hospital and no one is allowed to visit the patients or prisoners without permission.
He said the rejection was due to the large numbers of visitors requested to visit the prisoners. He said the hospital would not allow 26 relatives to visit the patient at the same time and, likewise, the prison cannot accommodate 26 visitors to the prisoners at the same time.
