The unresolved divorce case between singer Meng Keo Pichata and Gen. Moung Khim has exploded into violence and led to a criminal lawsuit, reports Reaksmei Kampuchea.

According to the newspaper report, the violence happened on 23rd December when Gen. Moung Khim went to the house of singer Meng Keo Pichata's older sister, Mrs. Meng Keo Pich Bopha, to take his house key and his luxury Lexus back after her older brother, Mr. Meng Tip Phearak, used them and did not return them to Gen. Moung Khim's house. The report said that when Gen. Moung Khim reached Bopha's house, all her siblings prevented Gen. Moung Khim from entering the gate, he forced his way in and the brawl ensued and Pichata's older brother was injured during the brawl.

The newspaper went on to report that on 15th December, Tip Phearak drove singer Meng Keo Pichata to the airport to go to France in the luxury Lexus she co-owned with Gen. Moung Khim. After he dropped off Meng Pichata at the airport, Tip Phearak did not return the car to Gen. Moung Khim's house. When Meng Pichata returned back from France on 22nd December, the tension between her and Gen. Moung Khim had escalated and Meng Pichata locked up the house, kept the keys and went to stay with her sister, Keo Pich Bopha, temporarily. When Gen. Moung Khim returned home he cannot get into the house, so he came to take the key back and that's when the violence had allgedly occurred.

The report said that on 24th December, singer Meng Pichata and her sister had lodged a complaint with the Criminal Court against Gen. Moung Khim for causing bodily harm and domestic violence against her and her siblings.

The report also said that Gen. Moung Khim had counter-sued by accusing Meng Pichata's sibblings of locking him out of his house and gang up to beat him.

Mr. Bun Sam Ath, Chief of Dangkor District Police Station, said that because both parties had made conflicting claims and because the lawsuits are suits on second degree violence and the physical evidence is not strong enough so he cannot act on the matter and has decided to refer the matter to the court.

On 8th December, singer Meng Pichata and Gen. Moung Khim appeared in court to hear a divorce case lodged by Meng Pichata alleging infidelity. The court attempted at mediation, but it was unsuccessful.

Both cases are ongoing.....
