Mr. Chea Mony (pictured), president of the Cambodian Free Trade Union, has sent a letter to the Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej requesting him to grant a royal pardon to all Khmer prisoners, reports Radio Free Asia.
The letter was sent to the Thai king on Thursday 17th December through the Thai embassy in Cambodia. The request was made after a Thai national, alleged Thai spy Siwarak Chotipong, was pardoned by Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni on 14th December.
Mr. Chea Mony said his letter wants to show the hardship and the injustices that Cambodian poor workers face while working in Thailand and were charged and jailed with various offences. "We have raised this issue in the letter to the Thai king because we think that the Thai king will understand about the hardship and the difficulties that Cambodian workers face while working in Thailand and were arrested by the Thai (police) and sentenced to between 7-8 years, with some even sentenced to 70 years jail term", he said.
Mr. Khieu Kanharith, Minister of Information and government spokesman, said Cambodia had signed a prisoner exchange treaty with Thailand and that Cambodia had applied the agreement first in regard to Mr. Sivarak's pardon. "The Thai side said it will release two Cambodian lady prisoners, but we can see that the Thais have swallowed their words (by reneging on their promises", he said.

United we stand , divided we fall
I just write this story, about an old man lay dying.he had fours sons:Sihamoni,Sam Rainsy,Hun sen and Chea sim .They often quarelled. The father King Sihanouk wanted to make them understand the wisdom of unity. He call the sons to his bedside.he gave each one of them a stick and asked them to break it. The sons broke the stick with easy. The father then asked the sons to tie all the sticks into a bundle. He then ordered them one by one to break the bundle. The sons were unable to do it.The father then told them :Dear sons, this will help you to learn an important lesson.if you remain separate divided, your ennemies will destroy you.If you remain united and undivided,no power on this earth can do any harm to you.
The moral of this story is : Unity is strenght.

Agree, united we stand, divided we fall. What would you do if the other two sons completely disagree and do whatever they like.
Well, if the two sons is completely disagree and do what ever they like ,so our Cambodia will be again under foreign's control for a long time.I have a vision that:One of their sons will help to get back " freedom " from the foreign country.

S K MONOHA, it is a very good wisdom. Unity is the best option to strengthen a nation. However, seeing the way Hun Sen ruled the country and try to silence critics and oppress the opposition, it is hard to imagine any unity among Khmer leaders any time soon.
When you said one of the sons will help to get back freedom from a foreign country, I hope you mean Sam Rainsy- not Hun Sen.
Dear Author khmerization.blogspot.com !
I will know, many thanks for an explanation.
