RFA has sacked Mr. Sam Borin

By Khmerization

Radio Free Asia (RFA) Khmer Service has sacked Mr. Sam Borin, who is its prominent interviewer and commentator, reports Deum Ampil.

On Thursday the 8th, Mr. San Suwidh, another RFA's star broadcaster, was the seventh person to be sacked by RFA. An unnamed source said that RFA has accused both broadcasters of inciting other RFA staff to stage a tyre-burning protest in late September that led to a chain of sackings by RFA.

The same source said that these two high-profile broadcasters were sacked simply because they dare to criticise and oppose the management style of RFA Khmer Service's director, Mr. Kem Sos and his deputy, Mr. Sam Poly.

But RFA has maintained that the staff were laid off because of the organisation's restructure and due to the expiration of their contracts.

A total of 7 staff had been sacked since 24th September. They include Ms. Sieng Sophorn, Mr. Huy Vannak, Mr. Thai Sothea, Mr. Phan Sophat, Mr. San Suwidh, Mr. Sam Borin and one other staff.
