Political Parties Must Be Careful In Selecting Their Candidates

National Election Committee (NEC), on 30th May, has reminded all political parties that wish to participate in the upcoming election to be careful in choosing their candidates- that their candidates they chose must not be convicted of criminal offences, even second degree or first degree offences, because it is required by electoral laws.
Mr Som Chandina, spokesman for the NEC, said that people who have registered to vote in the upcoming election numbered 8,124,391 people, to vote and choose for 123 members of parliament. The registration of political parties and candidates will take place from the 28th of May to the 12th of June 2008.
Mr Som Chandina said that from the 29th of May to the 30th of May the NEC had just received application of registration and candidate lists from 3 political parties. //
