Japanese Investors to Open a Bank in Phnom Penh

The Maruhan Corporation of Japan has said on Friday that it will launch a commercial bank named Maruhan Bank in Phnom Penh on the 22nd of May 2008 which is to become the first Japanese commercial bank in Cambodia.
Mr Han Chang Wu, director of Maruhan Corporation has unveiled this investment to Mr. Keat Chhon, Minister of Finance, on Friday the 2nd at the Finance Ministry when he led a delegation of bankers to meet with the minister.
The Ministry’s spokesman said that Mr. Wu has told the Ministry that the bank intends to provide accounts to Japanese and Cambodian investors who would like to make a contribution to the development of the Cambodian economy. Mr Wu has said that the arrival of the Japanese bank is a recognition of the glorious culture and the civilisation of Cambodia. //
