សាលាឧទ្ធរណ៍បានច្រានចោលសំណើសុំនៅក្រៅឃុំរបស់លោក អ៊ុំ សំអាន

School of Vice

Democracy maybe a "game" to some politicians. Yet in any part of the world, and, even more acutely so, in misruled developing countries like Cambodia where the ruling state does not abide by or govern in accordance with constitutional principles and the rule of law, the cry for democratic governance entails nothing more than the need and desire for both the state and the citizenry to establish and enter into a mutually acceptable working "contract" wherein the activities and their legitimate peaceful pursuit are seen as conducive to the overall prospect for 'stability' of the state and well-being of the vast majority, and are, above all, expressive of the citizens' will or aspirations which begin with the safeguarding of, and respect for their most basic of rights as human beings that, sadly - as we all see - are being denied [often violently] by the Cambodian state. 'Democracy', in short, is not [and should not be considered] some form of far-fetched abstract notion or luxury. That would be disingenuous and most unhelpful in this unhappy social context.
