Prince Sisowath Sirik Matak's letter to US Ambassador John Gunther Dean

Prince Sisowath Sirik Matak During Press Conference at Presidential Palace

Dear Excellency and friend,

I thank you very sincerely for your letter and for your offer to transport me towards freedom. I cannot, alas, leave in such a cowardly fashion.

As for you and in particular for your great country, I never believed for a moment that you would have this sentiment of abandoning a people which has chosen liberty. You have refused us your protection and we can do nothing about it. You leave us and it is my wish that you and your country will find happiness under the sky.

But mark it well that, if I shall die here on the spot and in my country that I love, it is too bad because we are all born and must die one day. I have only committed the mistake of believing in you, the Americans.

Please accept, Excellency, my dear friend, my faithful and friendly sentiments. Sirik Matak.

I always love the Lon Nol's time. Cambodia that time was not perfect but if Lon Nol won our country would have developed like Thailand or Malaysia. That era was the only time Khmer themselves determine their own destiny. Love and missed you my dad a full colonel in Khmer Republic Army. Thanks you Somdach Krom Preah Sisowath Sirik Matak.

Begin of Drgunzet's comment.

You know that USA and UK were trying to support Pol Pot to return to power? They support Pol Pot to keep the seat in United Nation.

Watch this clip made by the American Journalist.

Begin of Drgunzet's comment.

Watch the clip I provide, and see for yourself, USA demanded Hun Sen to resign from power in 1980 to allow the legitimate Cambodian government to return to power (the legitimate Cambodian government = the recognized Cambodian seat in United Nation at the time = Pol Pot).

Margaret Thatcher stated: "So, you'll find that the more reasonable ones of the Khmer Rouge will have to play some part in the future government, but only a minority part. I share your utter horror that these terrible things went on in Kampuchea."

Sweden eventually withdrew the support for Pol Pot after the Swedes wrote letters to the Swede government about the horrors happened under Pol Pot.

So here we go again, there are some Khmer who continues to think Pol Pot was necessary to fight Vietnam. In fact on the Topix Cambodia forum, there was a couple Khmer who declared, "It's ok for Khmer men to rape Khmer women so that Cambodia has more people to fight Vietnam."

You got it all wrong. Rapists cannot fight, rapists are only good at raping. Children of rapists will be likely to rape. They cannot become high-paying Software Engineers.

Now a day, countries fought economic war. Vietnamese engineers will be vastly more numerous and superior. I don't see how Cambodia can fight Vietnam in the future. The Cambodian children of rapists will not stand a chance.

Don't even try to fight militarily. Vietnam has a fearsome military track record.

Look at me. Genetically I was vastly different from the Asian around me. I was born from a special Asian lineage. It was in my gene to be tall, proper and scholar. I played chess at age four and started reading books at age 5. It's in my gene to drive me to read, learn and experiment. At age 7-8 I already took the clock apart to play with gears then put them back.

I self-taught electronics at age 11, and knew how to fix Amplifier, Radio at age 14. It's in my gene.

Every time I read that letter, I cannot stop my tear from falling.

I wish he would have gotten out of the country and formed a liberation force to fight against that murderous Khmer Rouge, the Khmer Vietminh (brainwashed by the evil Vietnam), and the mastermind of the killings - the Viet Cong/ Vietnam.

Dear Compatriots,

For the sake of Cambodia, I wish and hope that Hun Sen's gesture, which he displayed after the formation of the new NEC, was genuine and sincere.

Only time will tell, if Hun Sen had changed his attitude and temperament, after the CNRP won this next election.

If the CPP conceded its defeat and transferred the power to the CNRP peacefully, smoothly, and seamlessly, then I will consider Sam Rainsy, Kem Sokha, and Hun Sen my true National Heroes. They must be genius to produce such productive result.

And we can conclude that the culture of dialogue would be the right medicine to cure Cambodia's problems.

Please give this concept – the culture of dialogue - a chance to work through our society.

Best wishes and good luck to these 3 statesmen - Sam Rainsy, Kem Sokha, Hun Sen - for their concerted efforts to save Cambodia from the neo colonialist Vietnam.
