Hun Sen calls on Japan to send experts to help Cambodian election

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) --  Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has called on the Japanese government to send experts to help prepare voter lists in Cambodia for 2017-2018 elections, said Kim Kunawath, director general of state-owned TVK, Monday.

He said the call was made during a meeting on Sunday with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Japan on sideline of 3rd Disaster Risk Reduction World Conference.

At the meeting, Hun Sen said that on 19 March, the National Assembly would discuss draft election law after two political parties -- Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) -- reached joint agreement, he said.

Meanwhile, Hun Sen expressed strong belief that the two parties would continue to negotiate to fully complete the election law in short future, he said, adding that Japan would help Cambodia with this issue by sending its experts to help National Election Committee.

After months of discussion as part of election reforms, CPP and CNRP drafted two new election laws -- law on the National Election Committee and law aw on the Amendments to the Law on the Election of the Members of the National Assembly.

The two parties agreed to complete all works related to election laws before upcoming Khmer New Year, which will be on 14 April.

"Hun Sen calls on Japan to send experts to help Cambodian election."

See? Mr. Hun Sen wants a fair election too. He does not want trouble makers who tried to cheat and then blame him for cheating.

Why is CNRP is not asking Japan for help? Japan is just too smart and will not be deceived by false accusations from CNRP.

Cambodian government did ask and got help from Japan to monitor against frauds at the vote collections and tally. But there was not enough Japanese observers to post at the poll stations.

As the results, I saw some clips, the CNRP supporters were harassing the voters with light skin or look rich. They demand to check ID and verification to make sure these voters are not Vietnamese.

Basically the Khmer people have a habit of giving themselves authority and power to take matters into their own hands. That's wrong.

Imagine I give myself the power to inspect Khmer women's private parts for health safety. You folks Khmer would not like that, correct?

It's very difficult to deal with Khmer. That's why I saw a lot of batons flying onto the Khmer heads in the last couple years. lol...
