For younger Cambodian Americans, a narrowing education gap

By Leslie Berestein Rojas

On a cold afternoon at a park in Signal Hill, near Long Beach, a group of young men bundled up in hoodies and baseball caps plays volleyball.

For a lot of them, the game is a welcome release. Many are struggling. Some are unemployed. Some never finished high school.

Like 20-year-old Tim Ngoy, who dropped out when he was a senior.

“I was involved in, like, I dunno, distractions I guess," Ngoy said. "I kicked it with the wrong people, the wrong crowd. I’d been ditching."

He said he tried home schooling his senior year, "but that didn't work out too well." Read the whole article here.

"Me and my parents don’t talk," Ngoy said. "So I didn’t have that person to tell me that you have to do this, you have to do that.”

When I came to America at age 15, I was orphaned in the States. One Asian adult told me, "The American locals are lazy. If you are smart and study hard, you can become their number student, get scholarship, go to college for free, get a job. All of your problems will be fixed."

Within a few months, I borrowed someone's address, illegally registered into the best High School in the city. I knew I was smart so I flaunted my talents to the American teachers to get noticed. And they did. The teachers pulled aside after class and tested me more. They discovered I had photographic memory, "Oh my God, what do we have here!".

By the age 17 and 18, I represented my school in an International Computer competition. My team ranked 17th and 26th in the world. My teachers were extremely please.

I remembered when my team first competed and ranked 17th, I was so sad and worried. When we came home, I begged my Computer teacher of forgiveness, "I am sorry for failing you. But the competition was too much for us."

My teacher explained, "You got it all wrong. The school has been extremely happy with what you have achieved." I was puzzled, "But teacher, we ranked low and did not win anything."

He replied, "You ,still don't understand, rank 17 Internationally is very good. We actually ranked one in the entire West side of USA."

I begged for forgiveness for incurring thousand of dollars in expense but failed to win anything for the school. I thought the teacher was too kind and tried to find way to comfort me.

The following year, my school planned to send me and the team for a second try. I begged to be sent to some easier competition so that I can win something for the school. At that time I did not have the concept of being ranked in a great event is an honor.

I complied to my teacher's command and went the second time, this time as the team captain. I drove my team relentlessly for preparation, but faced stiffer competition, and dropped in rank to 26th.

Once again, I was almost in tears begging for forgiveness. I explained to my teacher, "My entire childhood,I never had more than a dollar in my pocket. Seeing the school spent thousand of dollars per trips on me was such an obligation I could never repay."

Well, I used to sell lottery ticket s on the street and had more than a dollar in my pockets. But the profit from the ticket sale was only 20% and I got to keep only 10% for myself. My net gain was still less than a dollar a day.

So, the point is: I prevailed and rose out of my poverty. Khmer cannot.

The reason for Khmer folks to drop out of school then drift is simple: Khmer folks have extremely low learning aptitude. Learning is a mind torture for them.

Let me give you folks a mind torture. Read this link then challenge me.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delayed_choice_quantum_eraser

There is no way the Khmer folks can understand that link. There is no way the Khmer folks can discuss anything of meaning from that link.

There, you have it. When Khmer folks face something difficult, they quit. Just about anything is difficult to them..lol....

I love poor people. Khmer race keeps killing poor people and also incites to kill more poor people.

If I have a magic wand to make evil&murderous Khmer people to disappear, I would make you folks gone for world peace. I know there is no such magic wand, but Khmer race will disappear in the future.

Have you seen a clip made in Lon Nol area? Khmer race went to the soccer stadium in the thousands to practice killing Vietnamese with axes and knives. Some Khmer dressed up as Vietnamese to be rounded up and chopped up. I saw the clip on Youtube.

Do a google search "Kap Yuon spirit". See for yourself, the monstrous Khmer inciting to chop up the Vietnamese then float the bodies down to the river as trophy.

So, the world will approve Vietnam's peaceful method of helping Cambodia to have a better race, Vietnamese! You know about the Jew slowly pushing out the Arabs and Palestinians right? You know the Americans kept pushing the native Indians into resettlement zones right?

If you don't want to be pushed out, then start to get good jobs, save money to buy your own lands. As long as the Vietnamese have more money, they will out paying for your land then push you out.

If the Palestinians or the Arab failed to stop themselves from selling lands to the Jews, then Khmer will fail in the same way.

As Palestinians killed the Jews to rob the land back, they were labeled as terrorists. You Khmer are acting worse than terrorists. You are monsters.

P.S. Why did you write: your dickhead teacher? What had my teacher done wrong? Why did you write such nasty word about my teacher?
