PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Phnom Penh Municipal Court heard bail request of Meach Sovannara, CNRP's senior official, and other activists on Thurday’s morning.
Some supporters and CNRP lawmakers were seen shouting outside the court to demand it release him and other nine activists.
Being escorted by security guards to the court, Sovannara told reporters that he would be released because he was not wrong.
"I hope that the court will release me and other activists because it is completely politically motivated," he said.
Sovannara was arrested on November 11, while he was on the back seat of his vehicle.
On December 25, 2014, the Phnom Penh Municipal Court accused him of leading insurrection over the violent clash on July 15, 2014 near the Freedom Park.
