The Cambodia people never forget the invaluable support Vietnam had given to Cambodia and will continue enhancing ties between the two countries, King Norodom Sihamoni told visiting President Truong Tan Sang Tuesday.
Sang met with the Cambodian King right after his arrival in Phnom Penh on the morning of December 23, starting his first official visit to the neighbor country since he became the head of Vietnamese State.
King Sihamoni hailed the visit as an important milestone in the bilateral friendship and well-rounded cooperation between the two countries.
He said that the Cambodia people never forget the invaluable support that the Vietnamese Party, State, government and people have given Cambodia in every circumstance as well as in the national construction and development.
Cambodia will continue pursuing fostering the great solidarity and everlasting relationship with Vietnam, he added.
President Sang said Vietnam always treasures and appreciates the fine sentiment and assistance that King Sihamoni and the late King Norodom Sihanouk as well as the Cambodian people have given to Vietnam in the past struggle for national independence and the current development cause.
He expressed his belief that the King, in his noble position, will continue to strengthen the ties with Vietnam for the benefit of the two nations.

The Vietnamese President and the Cambodian King also shared a wish that the demarcation of land border and marker planting will be completed soon, helping build a borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and development between the two countries.
Sang also invited the King Sihamoni to visit Vietnam. The King thanked for the guest’s invitation, saying that he would make a visit in an appropriate time.
Accompanying with Sang are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, Head of the Presidential Office Dao Viet Trung, Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh, and Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, among others.
During his two-day visit, the Vietnamese President will hold high-level meetings and working sessions to discuss measures to intensify bilateral cooperation in many fields, including politics, security, economics and trade.
Regional and international issues of mutual concern are also expected to be on the agenda of the meetings.
Vietnam and Cambodia set up their diplomatic ties on June 24, 1967. Two-way trade reached US$3.34 billion in 2013 and $2.6 billion in the first 10 months of this year. The two countries are aiming for $5 billion USD in bilateral trade turnover by 2015, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
Vietnamese investors are operating a total of 134 projects in Cambodia with registered capital of $3.36 billion, focusing on industrial tree farming, mining, oil and gas exploration, telecommunications, and banking, according to the report.
