PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Cambodia is less competitive than both Vietnam and Laos but more competitive than Myanmar, according to the Geneva-based World Economic Forum.
In the forum's annual Global Competitiveness Report released Wednesday, Cambodia ranked 95 out of 144 economies surveyed.
The ranking, which was seven notches lower than last year, put the country below Vietnam (68) and Laos (93) but above Myanmar (134).
A performance overview showed that Cambodia was especially weak in terms of innovation, higher education and training along with infrastructure.
CORRUPTION MOST PROBLEMATIC FACTOR FOR DOING BUSINESS
Corruption by far the "most problematic" factor for doing business followed by inefficient government bureaucracy, inadequately trained workers and poor infrastructure.
However, the country received relatively high marks for health and primary education as well as labour market efficiency.
The deterioration in Cambodia's competitiveness over the past 12 months followed a steady improvement in recent years.
Among other ASEAN economies surveyed, Singapore ranked as the world's second most competitive economy after Switzerland. Laos is more competitive than Cambodia, but Laos is completely controlled by Vietnamese/Yuon communist masters in Hanoi militarily. Laos is stuck with evil Yuon/Vietnamese military. Laos has been so quiet lately.
Not really. Laos has its own mind. Otherwise, we would not have a problem with the Mekong river in the future. We all try to stop Laos from building the hydro electric dam. They just don't listen. So, no. Laos is Laos. Not control by anyone but certainly is influenced by the neighbor which is true, almost anywhere.
I have written many times: Khmer race is dumb. You folks are pathetic and really need to improve. Look at the ranking, Cambodians always rank very low.
Like I said, Khmer race is the worst race I have encountered so far. You really need to improve. And stop causing troubles in the world.
