PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) – Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) said that it wished to file a complaint to International Criminal Court (ICC) against government over the deadly violence against protesting workers last week.
At least five people were killed and 37 others were injured when the police cracked down on angry protesting workers last week.
“CNRP is taking legal procedure and a group of international lawyers were hired to assess the recent crimes committed by government’s forces in Cambodia,” CNRP’s Vice President Kem Sokha said yesterday in a news conference.
However, a government official said that CNRP has its rights to file the complaint but it will not affect the government.
We regretted over the violent clashes, which erupted last week, but the incidents were not provoked by the police.
