Re: Rally at
United Nations Headquarters, New York City
Based on the heated situation in Cambodia today,
such as problem related to human rights, political instability and recent countless
voting irregularities,
we the Cambodia
National Rescue Party’s Chapter of Pennsylvania would like to invite all colleagues,
friends, compatriots and the public at large to join the upcoming public mass
rally to urge the United Nations and International Community to pressure the
Cambodian government to honor its commitments to the 1991 Paris Peace Agreement
and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and to end the on-going erosion
of civil liberties and systematic human rights violations. The rally will be
held on Monday, August 19, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at United Nations
Headquarters in New York City, 1st Avenue and East 47th
Street.
Cambodia is systematically moving away from
democracy and from its international obligations signed under the Paris Peace
Agreement over two decades ago on October 23, 1991. Therefore, we
call upon the United Nations and the Signatory Countries to honor their
commitments by taking the necessary actions to enforce their agreements
concerning Human Rights, Sovereignty, Independence, Neutrality and the National
Unity of Cambodia.
We encourage all Khmer compatriots to put our
differences aside, donate one day of your precious time to join hand and fight
for democracy of our motherland. Our country needs you. United we stand!
Agenda:
1:00 PM
- 1:30 PM: Gathering, informing assignments and the mission of the rally.
1:30PM
- 2:00 PM: Rally begins. Singing national anthem and speakers from various
communities express their concerns regarding past and current issues in
Cambodia which violated the Paris Peace Agreement and the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights by the
Cambodian government.
2:00
PM - 2:30 PM: Communities’ representatives deliver petitions to United Nations.
2:30
PM - 3:00 PM: Discuss future mission, then end.
