CCHR Joint UPR Submissions

Dear all,

CCHR would like to share with you our joint submissions to the United Nations Universal Periodic Review relating to the human rights situation in Cambodia. Cambodia will undergo its second review in early 2014 and CCHR partnered with several international, regional and national organizations to facilitate and complete two joint submissions for consideration in the run up to and during the review.

The first joint submission gives an overview of the situation of freedom of expression since Cambodia's last review in 2009. In particular, the submission looks at problematic legislation restricting freedom of expression; freedom of information; freedom of the media; online freedoms; and freedom of assembly and association. The second submission discusses the situation of sexual and reproductive health and rights in Cambodia, touching on issues such as access to quality health care, challenges caused by the criminalization of sex work, difficulties faced by people living with HIV and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI). Both submissions provide concrete and detailed recommendations to the Royal Government of Cambodia for consideration surrounding Cambodia's review early next year.

Please find both joint submissions attached in PDF format and if you require further information, please feel free to contact us via this email address (info@cchrcambodia.org).

Kind regards,
CCHR ---
