Around 50 Cambodian business representatives accompanied Mr. Todd in meetings with several U.S. businesses, investors, and trade associations in Long Beach, California and Washington, D.C from July 8-11.
On July 8, he led a discussion in the city of Long Beach at the U.S.-Cambodia Export and Investment Seminar for 50 U.S. businessmen and women to urge their companies to explore trade relationships with companies in Cambodia.
The trade delegation accompanying him included Lim Heng, Chairman of Heng Mean Investment Group; In Channy, Chief Executive Officer of ACLEDA Bank; Brett Sciaroni, Chairman of American Chamber of Commerce Cambodia; Sung Bonna, CEO of Bonna Realty; and Rami Sharaf, Chief Executive Officer of RMA.
In the visit he went to “Cambodia Town” and addressed members of the United Cambodian Community (UCC), an agency that assists refugees and immigrants in the community to adjust to life in America.
He urged the community to maintain a vested interest in their homeland.
The visit was concluded at a trade promotion event at the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.
On July 9, Ambassador Todd attended the signing ceremony of a new agreement between U.S. wine producer, Ernst & Julio Gallo, and Cambodian investor, Hung Hiep Group.
The agreement makes the Hung Hiep Group an exclusive distributor of Ernst & Julio Gallo products in Cambodia.
Afterwards, Ambassador Todd led the delegation to Washington, D.C. to hold meetings with the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council, U.S. Department of Commerce, and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.
During the meetings on July 11 he promoted the role the U.S. has in facilitating trade and provided an assessment of the economic landscape in Cambodia.
The reverse trade mission portrays the growing interest of both U.S. and Cambodian companies in forging economic ties and increasing trade and investment between the two countries.
