PHNOM PENH, 24th May 2013 (The Cambodia Herald) -- The U.S. Embassy's 2013 Small Grants
Program will award the Khmer Youth and Society Development (KYSD), a
non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Phnom Penh, a
grant of $19,500 for a twelve-month project called "Youth Empowerment
for Sustainable Livelihood."
The goal of the project is to improve economics and social development for the poor younger generation between the ages of 15 and 30 living in the city. These young adults have to support themselves and their families with very little education, infrastructure, and opportunity. The project will offer job skills training, job placement and entrepreneurship education so that they can be able to compete in today's urban society.
KYSD was founded in 2000 and is an NGO working with youth and communities in the fields of youth development and empowerment at the national and grassroots levels. Their proposal was one of the twenty submitted by NGOs that competed in the U.S. Embassy’s 2013 Small Grants Program.
