PHNOM PENH, 24th May 2013 (The Cambodia Herald) -- Prince Sisowath
Thomico, Queen Mother’s personal secretary, is currently considering
announcing his assets following the warning by the Anti-Corruption Unit.
Speaking Friday to Cambodia Express News (CEN), an affiliate of The Cambodia Herald, Thomico said he hasn’t decided yet whether to submit his asset documents or not because the deadline for the submission is Monday of next week.
Thomico’s comment was made several days after the Anti-Corruption Unit warned him of the consequences if he doesn't announce his assets.
The warning letter issued Monday by Om Yingtieng, President of the Anti-Corruption Unit, wrote Thomico had a week to declare his assets or he would face lawsuits and even imprisonment if he refused to do so.
149 officials in the Royal Palace have announced their assets, but only Thomico hasn’t done it, the letter added.
According to article 38 of Anti-Corruption Law, Thomico can face up to one year in prison if he doesn’t reveal his assets.
