PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Business tycoon
Duong Ngeab’s son, Doung Kimlong, 17, has been sentenced to five months
in prison for illegal possesion of a weapon but the sentenced was later
suspended.
In the same incident, Phnom Penh Municipal Court judge, Seng Neang, also sentenced Oudom Chorvin, his bodyguard, to three years and six months imprisonment for illegal possession of a weapon and property damage, and was ordered to pay 40 million riel in compensation.
Duong Kimlong was arrested on April 14 after he had used a gun to bludgeon Mom Dina, who was socializing with his friends at a beer garden during Cambodian New Year.
A report made by Phnom Penh Military Police Bureau said that he attacked the victim who along with five of his friends, cheered loudly at the appearance of a new angel for Cambodian New Year.
After the attack, Duong Kimlong and three of his bodyguards proceeded to damage some property in the beer garden, then escaped in their car.
The troublemaker and the bodyguard were arrested in a condo in front of the Cambodiana Hotel and seized a Rolo brand gun along with a machine gun.
